ESPN Reports: Boston Bruins have just brought back a dominant NHL player from overseas ahead of Toronto Maple Leafs for their bench in a blockbuster deal worth……Read more
A new chapter has been written including Chris Tanev, David Pastrnak, and Brad Marchand as a result of a wild altercation that occurred during the most recent clash between the Bruins and the Maple Leafs. The Bruins and Maple Leafs are the most bitter of rivals.
There is usually a little bit of additional intensity when the Boston Bruins and the Toronto Maple Leafs do battle on the ice, and that was not different on Tuesday during the Leafs’ overwhelming victory by a score of 4-0. Brad Marchand jumped Chris Tanev after a hit to David Pastrnak, which resulted in all hell breaking loose on the ice, with both teams actively involved in a massive scuffle. Of all the moments that occurred, there was one that stood out above all others.
At first sight, the hit that Tanev delivered might not have been the worst that we have ever witnessed. However, when the game was slowed down, it is easy to understand why Bruins captain Marchand was so unhappy. Pastrnak was struck with his head facing the boards, which put him in a position where he was potentially seriously injured.
There is little doubt that Chris Tanev is not the kind of player who would purposely do anything like that. However, in this particular circumstance, considering the difficulties that Boston has been going through and the intense competition that exists between these two teams, it is possible that Marchand was attempting to boost his team’s performance.
It is possible that it did not work out, as the team struggled once again, as the club was shutout for the third time this season despite generating 29 shots on goal, and the fact that the team is currently sitting at 6-7-1 indicates that the caution flags are surely present. There is still a lot of time for them to turn their season around, but after dominating the regular season for the past three years, there is reason to be concerned in Boston. If actions like this from their captain are unable to get their season going, it is possible that this will be the last season that Jim Montgomery is able to lead the Boston Bruins as their head coach.
