After starting his first-ever head coaching tenure with a perfect record, Mike Macdonald’s Seattle Seahawks squad has now lost four of their last five games. They are coming off of their most lopsided loss of the season, which was a 31-10 setback at home against the Buffalo Bills.
Since a 17th game was added to the schedule in 2021, there is no longer an official midway point for the United States National Football League season. However, eight games into the campaign is about as near as it comes to being halfway through the season. At this point in time, the Seahawks had an overall record of 4-4, having split their first half of the season.
Particularly in the aftermath of a defeat as challenging as the one that occurred on Sunday, a first-year head coach and his staff will be held responsible for the majority of the blame. It is much more difficult when, in the instance of Macdonald, he followed in the footsteps of the most successful coach in Seahawks history, who was responsible for bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to Seattle for the very first time.
Where does Macdonald’s resume stand in comparison to Pete Carroll’s during the course of their first eight games as the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks? In the event that the team is unable to turn around this season, should Macdonald be placed on the hot seat, or does he deserve further time to determine whether or not he has the potential to become the future long-term head coach of the team?
In comparison to the 2010 season, which was Carroll’s first year as head coach of the Seahawks, the following is a look at the roster that Macdonald inherited for the 2024 season.
