An inquiry has been launched by the Detroit Police Department to determine the reasons why wide receiver Jameson Williams of the Detroit Lions was not arrested after a traffic check on October 8. This information was provided by Ross Jones of WXYZ-TV in Detroit, which reported on the matter on Tuesday afternoon.

The report that Jones compiled, which cited the police, stated that Williams was on the verge of being taken into jail when the police discovered an unregistered firearm in his vehicle.

According to the police, the finding was discovered when Williams was pulled over for speeding; it appears that Williams’ brother also had a gun aboard the car, which was registered by the appropriate authorities.

According to reports, the wide receiver responded to these events by revealing to the officers who were considering detaining him that he had played for the Lions on three separate occasions. It was at that time that a supervisor was called in, as Jones explains, “a precaution to make sure that policy is followed in cases that could create media coverage.”

Nevertheless, “the sergeant was a fan of the Lions and recognizes Williams’ name immediately on the spot.” Additionally, the footage from the body camera revealed that the wallpaper on the sergeant’s cellphone was the Lions club emblem.
