Just in: Philadelphia Eagles have just announced the return of their 24-years old superstar to their starting roster…..see details
After being released by the Dallas Cowboys prior to the start of Week 12 games on Sunday, K.J. Henry has already signed with another team. According to NFL Media, the 25-year-old defensive end is reportedly close to signing with the Philadelphia Eagles and being added to their practice squad.
Henry may be considered as a possible replacement for Brandon Graham, who suffered a season-ending triceps tear in Sunday night’s 37-20 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. The Eagles’ 2021 sixth-round draft pick Tarron Jackson and Milton Williams, who could play both defensive tackle and edge, are two other candidates who could see action while Graham is out.
Henry should be in good football shape after his recent game, and if he can pick up the defense fast, he might get some playing time before Sunday’s Eagles game against the Ravens.
In the fifth round of the 2023 draft, the Commanders selected Henry, a 6-4, 255-pound defensive end out of Clemson. As a rookie, he saw action in 10 games, seeing 41% of defensive snaps and 28% more special teams snaps. He finished with 1.5 sacks, 14 solo tackles, 4 TFLs, and 2 hits to the quarterback.
On August 27, the Commanders let him go. The Bengals claimed him the next day; however, they released him and added him to their practice squad on September 17. He was elevated to the Cowboys’ practice squad on October 1 after appearing in two games with the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad.
When Dallas defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence went on injured reserve, they needed depth, so they traded for him. While he did not play in Week 5’s defeat to the Steelers, he did register a sack in Week 4’s loss to the Lions, 47-9.
Following the activation of defensive end Marshawn Kneeland from injured reserve on November 23, Dallas dismissed him. He did not play in Weeks 9, 10, or 11.
Consequently, Henry recorded 2.5 sacks, 15 solo tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 2 passes defended in 14 games played in the NFL, with 3 of those games being starts.
