ESPN Reports: Las Vegas raiders have just secured a $176.2million experienced star QB from rivals in a blockbuster deal to replace……Read more
Over the next several weeks, the Las Vegas Raiders will have a schedule that few other NFL teams will envy. Three of the Raiders’ next five games feature AFC West opponents, adding insult to injury to an already awful season opener. The Chiefs, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, will be the opponents in two of those contests.
The Raiders’ dismal start to the season has forced them to meet the reigning champions of the Super Bowl, a team they have never faced before.
The level of respect that quarterback Patrick Mahomes commands from opposing teams is explained by Raiders coach Antonio Pierce.
According to Pierce, “the same countless, sleepless nights you’d have as a player” will be experienced when planning games against Patrick Mahomes, whether from a distance or up close and personal. It’s challenging because he’s incredibly talented and fiercely competitive.
Truthfully, he’s still giving it his all despite the current state of the season regarding interceptions. There are some things he does that don’t make sense. Like us, they’ve dealt with injuries and different personnel groups, but I give them and Andy Reid the credit for finding ways to win despite all that.
Final Press Conference of the Week Between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders, Hosted by Coach Antonio Pierce
The fact that Mahomes is an excellent quarterback is well-known. Just over four weeks from now, Las Vegas will have the honor of facing him not once, but twice, and he is already up there with the best quarterbacks in NFL history. The Raiders, who have struggled mightily this season, will face yet another formidable challenge.
On the field, the Chiefs and Raiders couldn’t be more different. In recent years, Kansas City has been the NFL standard-bearer, while the Raiders have been mired in mud. It seemed like the Raiders’ losing run will go on forever.
In their upcoming matchup, Mahomes will undoubtedly point out the Raiders’ many flaws. The onus is on Pierce and the Raiders to play the rest of the way through the season with dignity. The Chiefs would love nothing more than to add salt to the Raiders’ wound by losing their fourth game in a row, so they will need to step up their game against the Raiders.
