ESPN Reports: Buffalo Bills have just secured a $176.2million experienced star QB from rivals in a blockbuster deal……Read more
In a move that comes just four days before the Seattle Seahawks are scheduled to visit the Buffalo Bills in a Week 8 matchup, the Tennessee Titans have moved linebacker Ernest Jones to the Seattle Seahawks. This means that the Bills will be facing off against Jones for the second week in a row. Jones is 24 years old and plays defensive end for Cleveland.
Jones, who was a former third-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams and was traded to the Titans in late August, has had a hectic few months, and this new development adds to the excitement that he has experienced.
Baker, too, was a recent acquisition by his (now former) club, just signed with the Seahawks as a free agency this past offseason. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Seattle parted ways with Jermone Baker and a fourth-round draft selection in the deal. Baker was also a recent acquisition by his old team.
Over the course of his four-year career in the National Football League, Jones has racked up 364 tackles and 12 pass deflections. He is a linebacker who is athletic and appears to be a good fit for the defensive scheme that Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald employs. This is a nice addition to a squad that is currently ranked 21st in the NFL in total defense through the first seven weeks of the championship season.
Due to the fact that Buffalo is scheduled to play the Seahawks on Sunday, this transaction is significant for the team because it helps Buffalo prepare for the game. There is also a certain amount of hilarity in the fact that the Bills just played host to Jones’ previous team this past Sunday.
The Titans were defeated by the Bills by a score of 34-10, and Jones started for Tennessee. During the victory, Jones registered five tackles, one quarterback hit, two quarterback pressures, and one pass deflection.
Whether or not Jones will play for Seattle this weekend is still up in the air, but the Seahawks did give up a starter in order to acquire him. In the event that he does not leave, he will not be the only familiar face that Buffalo will see on Sunday. Former Bills defender Tyrel Dodson has started all seven of Seattle’s games at linebacker this season.
