A man was killed when he was mauled by many dogs in Albany, according to the police on Thursday.

At approximately six o’clock on Wednesday evening, law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and saw a number of pit bulls fighting a man who was hiding behind a structure. According to a news release issued by the Albany Police Department and a spokeswoman for the department, one of the officers fired his firearm in an attempt to stop the attack, and he hit at least one of the dogs.

The victim was mauled by multiple canines before falling, as seen in cell phone videos of the attack that were sent to the CBS affiliate WRGB by witnesses. After that, the dogs continue to attack him while they pull him across the yard, as shown in the video.

According to the department, the individual, who was not recognized, was pronounced dead at the site from the injuries he sustained.

According to WRGB, a local humane charity also came to the site, and upon their arrival, they observed many boxes with dogs being placed into their van.
