First, their relievers Jacob Webb and Danny Coulombe, then their All-Star third baseman Jordan Westburg, and finally, their teammate infielder Ramon Urias contributed to the success of the team.

Another piece of the puzzle that the Orioles have been working on has been returned to them.

After being sidelined since August 22 due to a sprained left wrist, Ryan Mountcastle has returned to the lineup after spending a significant amount of time on the 10-day injured list. This brings Baltimore’s lineup, which is attempting to find some consistency, some additional power.

Eloy Jimenez was also slated for assignment, which was a surprising decision on their part, in order to clear down some roster space.

At this point in time, Mountcastle is in the process of putting together his fifth consecutive season with an OPS+ that is higher than the average of 100 for the league. at this very moment, he is slashing.a batting line of 265/.305/.425 with 13 home runs, 44 extra-base hits, and 61 runs batted in.

He will be a tremendous asset to this offense, particularly in light of the difficulties that Jimenez has been experiencing at the plate.

The former top prospect was acquired at the trade deadline this year, and since then, he has been ice-cold on offense. He has gone 5-for-39 in his last 15 games, and he has not collected a hit in any of his 16 at-bats.

At this stage in the season, it is essential for the Orioles to have Mountcastle back in the lineup. Not only will this allow them to have one of their most talented hitters, but it will also allow them to get him some playing time before the playoffs beginning.

It is possible for Baltimore to formally secure a position in the Wild Card playoffs if they win on Tuesday and suffer a loss to either the Minnesota Twins or the Kansas City Royals.
