Breaking News: “What A Mess” Colts player goes viral for his vulgar insult caught on hot mic… Read more
Over a rough 2024 season, the Indianapolis Colts have had a flurry of gaffes and mistakes; but, it appears head coach Shane Steichen may be in to grab at least one more shot after this year.
ESPN source Adam Schefter said that head coach Shane Steichen of Colts is “leaning to safe” about his job security, priming him for a comeback in 2025— barring any surprises.
Schefter added, “The feeling is, for now, he’s going to be back in Indianapolis. But, it does feel like the organization will change. Individuals [are] asking whether Chris Ballard, the general manager, will be involved. If true, Ed Dodds resides near the Irsay family and is on staff. We will see what transpires there.
This season the Colts have been far from buttoned down. They fall in the bottom five of the NFL on the defensive side and in the middle of the pack in the league for offensive yards and points.
This team proved to be a few steps short of the goal, so change in the franchise is developing even if they are in the middle of the playoff race in the fourth quarter of the year—perhaps on the executive level rather than from Steichen.
If the Colts decide to replace that front, Schefter notes Assistant General Manager Ed Dodds as a possible successor to Chris Ballard, who has been with the organization since 2017. It might help Indianapolis to keep the two-man unit on the same page and preserve some synergy between their coach and front office.
Since ascending head coach in 2022, Steichen has maintained a 17–17 record. Assuming he stays with the team into his third year, the pressure to succeed will be more than ever in 2025, hence the events of this summer and the possible developments under progress are even more important than they are now.
