Prior to reaching their 23rd birthday, the most career home runs hit by a Mets player are as follows:

Strawberry, Darryl, number 52

Ed Kranepool, number 48

David Wright, number 41

According to Francisco Alvarez, who hit a three-run home run to finish his team’s six-run ninth inning victory over Toronto on Wednesday,

Ron Swoboda, number 32

Gregg Jefferies, number 31

Twenty-one Jose Reyes

During the ninth inning of the team’s victory versus Toronto, which they won 6-2, Alvarez blasted a home run. The Mets now have a record of 80-66 for the season, which puts them one game ahead of the Atlanta Braves in the competition for the third and final wild card slot in the National League. This victory brought the Mets to 0.6 games ahead of the Braves.

The sophomore season has been challenging for Alvarez, who has been dealing with ailments throughout the course of the season. This is despite the fact that he has only seven home runs and 34 RBI following that explosion. This comes after he had a remarkable first season, during which he hit 25 home runs and drove in 63 runs.

Having said that, if he is able to go hot at the proper moment, it would be a significant step toward the Mets being able to qualify for the playoffs for the second time in the past three years.

A return to play for New York will take place on Friday night at Citizens Bank Park, where they will face the Philadelphia Phillies, who are currently in first place in the National League East.
