ESPN:Former Toronto Blue Jays All-Star Marcus Stroman Possible Trade Stroman may “find himself the odd man out”

Jim Speaking Thursday on the “Baseball Insiders” podcast, Insider Robert Murray of Fansided hypothesised that former Toronto Blue Jays ace Marcus Stroman would wind up on the New York Yankees’ trade block.

Once more, it is only conjecture; still, it makes perfect sense. First, the Yankees already have starters in Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon, Fried, Clarke Schmidt, and Luis Gil, who this season earned the American League Rookie of the Year Award, following signing Max Fried.

Unless they are amenable to being a multi-inning reliever, they have already moved Nestor Cortes to assist clear the logjam and might do the same with Stroman. Moreover, Stroman is expected to make something over $18 million this season.

Although the Yankees usually don’t give money much thought, this offseason they have given Fried and Cody Bellinger rather a lot.

They have also taken in Devin Williams’ money and are focused on improving the first base position.

Pitching to a 4.31 ERA, Stroman went 10-9 for New York. As the Yankees made the World Series, the 33-year-old native of Long Island had 30 appearances with 29 starts. Stroman pitched hardly at all in the playoffs.

Comprising an 87-85 record with a 3.72 ERA, the 10-year veteran is Former Blue Jays ace Stroman has also thrown for the Mets and Chicago Cubs. 2019 saw him make the All-Star Games for Toronto and Chicago.

Stroman debuted for Toronto in 2014 and, across two seasons with the Jays, won double-digit games. He guided Toronto to the ALCS in both 2015 and 2016.
