BREAKING: D.J. Moore Re-Signs Bears, Commits to Finish Career in Chicago Bea…See more

Although running back D’Andre Swift may not seem like the type of player to be involved in an illegal play, the NFL has fined him the most money for an incident that occurred during Monday night’s game at Minnesota.

Swift was penalized $22,511 for delivering a blow to his helmet during a 6-yard run around right end after Josh Metellus tackled him with 6:48 remaining in the first half.

No foul was called on the play.

Among Bears players this season, Swift’s fine is the highest. That was the $19,697 punishment that the NFL levied against cornerback Tyrique Stevenson for an incident that occurred during Detroit’s 23-20 victory over Chicago on Thanksgiving Day. The incident involved Jameson Williams.
After hitting 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy in the head in the 38-13 loss by the Bears at San Francisco Dec. 8, defensive end Darrell Taylor received his third fine of the year, $16,883, last week.

Of all the offensive players disciplined by the Bears this season, Swift’s fine is just the second. In a game against New England at Soldier Field, Matt Pryor had the other one during a confrontation in the end zone.
