Good News For The Knicks; He’s Back…..
Landry Shamet seemed to be a shoo-in to land on the New York Knicks roster before sustaining a dislocated shoulder in the preseason. Though it was unknown how much time he would be missing, he has already made quite a significant step towards returning.
Landry Shamet of Knicks is almost ready for a comeback from injury.
Monday marked Shamet’s season debut for the G-League club of the New York Knicks, the Westchester Knicks, as he scored 10 points on 4-for–10 shooting in 19 minutes off the bench. Westchester selected Shamet second overall in the G-League draft so he may heal his injuries with the club.
Before training camp started, the Knicks signed him on a non-guaranteed contract; subsequently, they dismissed him after he sustained an injury. New York since hired Matt Ryan to cover for him, but given his lack of playing time he could be a waiver candidate.
A huge first step toward getting back into the NBA is Shamet getting game action. They have faced with early-season injuries including Miles’ McBride, Cam Payne, and Precious Achiuwa missing time. Mitchell Robinson has also still to return from ankle surgery; it will probably be some time.
Shamet could greatly help the bench unit.
Once Shamet could make it back to the NBA floor, the Knicks would most definitely welcome him. New York ranks dead last in bench points per game with 20.4 and second in assists off the bench with 6.2, hence it boasts one of the lowest-producing bench groups in the NBA.
The second unit will be much improved by Shamet’s high percentage knock down of shots. From three-point range, he ranks as a lifetime 38.4% shooter.
Thursday on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves marks the Knicks’s next game. Although it’s still unknown whether New York will boost Shamet for that game, it could not be much longer until he makes his eagerly awaited Knicks debut.
