BREAKING : “This is the end of me” Dallas Mavericks’ point guard Luka Doncic says in tears as he announces……
Many questioned the defensive effort of Luka Doncic during the best-of-7 series after he and the Dallas Mavericks lost 4-1 to the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals.
The Celtics aimed him for negative combinations since some thought of him as a defensive liability. Though on tour abroad throughout the offseason, Doncic looked in the best form of his career; he seems much better now, particularly against Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski.
Doncic’s defensive stop against Podziemski went viral in the Mavericks’ 144-134 victory over the Warriors. Middleway through the last frame, he turned it into a bucket on the other end of the floor, giving the Mavs a 12-point advantage (132-120).
Thompson exhausted one of his seven threes. With Brandin Podziemski remaining in the backcourt, Doncic never gave up on the play and pushed the ball up the floor with a 5-on- 4 advantage to gather an assist off Klay’s three. With his amazing triple-double—45 points, 13 assists, 11 rebounds—Doncic marks a season-high in points and will be regarded as one of his best performances of 2024–25.
For most threes (48), the Mavericks and Warriors created NBA records in a Sunday game. From deep, Thompson shot 7-for- 11, leading the Mavs’ 21 threes including Doncic’s 6-for-11, Quentin Grimes’ 4-for-8, and PJ Washington’s 2-for- 4. Leading the Warriors with 7-for- 13 en route to 26 points was Stephen Curry. While the Warriors finished with 27 threes, Wiggins, who ended with a team-high 29 points, connected on 5-of- 9 from deep.

Though Dallas Mavericks shooting guard Klay Thompson did not get the same Warriors fanfare as his first game as a visiting team member, it did not stop him from giving an amazing performance. Thompson closed with 29 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals against his old club.
Thompson discussed the high 3-point shooting volume hitting a historic level following the win and advised possibly the NBA go one step further by using a four-point line at some time, citing Dallas Morning News Mike Curtis.
“That’s good since I saw what Charlotte & Chicago did [75 combined missed 3s], so it’s nice to counter that because a lot of fans believe too many 3s are being attempted, so it was nice to show that shooting is still incredible in this league,” Thompson said. “I truly think there may be a four-point line one day as this game gets longer in terms of years played.”
Thursday hosts for the Clippers will be Luka Doncic and the Mavericks.
