BREAKING: “This is the end for me” Seattle Seahawk WR DK Metcalf in tears as he announces….see more
The Seahawks are able to accomplish something that no other team had ever been able to do before against Aaron Rodgers. At the end of the first quarter, the Seattle Seahawks were trailing Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets by a score of 14-0 on the road. By the end of the second quarter, the Seahawks were trailing by a score of 21-7 overall. From a historical perspective, a 14-point lead at home for Rodgers is virtually guaranteed to result in a victory.
As a “true home game” qualifying, it is important to take into consideration the fact that the New York Giants defeated the Green Bay Packers in London despite being trailing by 14 points. Despite the fact that Green Bay was supposed to play their home game there, every reasonable person is aware that the venue is, in all practical terms, neutral.
In the final three quarters of the game, Rodgers’ offense was unable to score a single point, and the only points that New York managed to score came via Kene Nwangwu’s kick return touchdown, which covered 99 yards. Leonard Williams was the recipient of Aaron’s touchdown pass that was completed in the second quarter. It was the first pick-6 in the red zone in Rodgers’ storied career, which was normally characterized by a low number of interceptions.
Although Rodgers is pretty much a spent force, it is important to remember that a road comeback is a road comeback, and rallies from margins of this magnitude are not very typical. For the Seahawks, this is the first time since their victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019 that they have come back by a margin of at least 14 points. It is also the most impressive comeback in the history of Geno Smith, and it is Geno’s first comeback from a deficit of 10 points or more while starting for the Seahawks. Drew Lock led the Seattle Seahawks to a memorable victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football, turning a 10-0 deficit into a 20-17 victory. This was the only comeback that reached the double-digit mark after Russell Wilson’s departure.
Although this is the most significant comeback victory by a Rodgers opponent on the road, it is neither the first nor the most significant comeback from a double-digit hole that the Seahawks have ever experienced. Want to know a remarkable statistic? Okay, here it is:
