Breaking News: Dodgers Outpace Rivals to Secure Giants’ $100 Million Ace Pitcher, Igniting Controversy Across the League

Tony Gonsolin had Tommy John surgery in September 2023, adding to the devastation that the Los Angeles Dodgers’ pitching staff has endured due to injuries in recent seasons.

Dodgers Arbitration Rumors: Tony Gonsolin Agrees To Contract For 2025 Season

Following a noticeable decline from his All-Star performance the previous year, Gonsolin toiled through 20 starts that season. The entire scope of Gonsolin’s health problem became public knowledge when he said he needed Tommy John, although Dodgers manager Dave Roberts had hinted to him not being 100% earlier.

Among the Dodgers who were eligible for arbitration heading into the summer was Gonsolin, who did not throw a single pitch in 2024.

Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that in an effort to avoid arbitration, Gonsolin and the Dodgers reached a one-year, $5.4 million contract:

Gonsolin extended his contract for another two years in February 2023, therefore his salary for 2025 will be the same as his salary for this year. Additionally, that is the same amount that MLB Trade Rumors had predicted Gonsolin’s contract to earn in 2025.

The 30-year-old began an unexpected rehabilitation assignment in September and was briefly considered a return contender during the 2018 season due to the increasing number of injuries suffered by the Dodgers.

But in the end, the group decided that wasn’t going to happen and turned their attention to 2025. While Gonsolin is expected to be free of any restrictions when he reports to spring training, he will likely be limited in innings played next year.

Players who are eligible for arbitration had their contracts tender deadline passed on Friday. Supposedly, the Dodgers have also come to terms with Dustin May, who was also out for the entire year of 2024.

Dodgers’ Thanksgiving campaign includes Tony Gonsolin
Gonsolin was unable to play on the field with the Dodgers this season, but he was a late-season dugout buddy and recently helped feed hungry families at a Thanksgiving celebration.

Anthony Banda, Landon Knack, and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation were all on board.
